Foxes are quite small animals (the smallest of the dog family) and feed on even smaller prey such as mice, rabbits and insects. They will also eat fruit and carrion.

Considering their small size, it is unlikely a fox would attempt an attack on a full grown deer - and would probably lose if it did - but it is said they will attack a fawn. If so, I imagine the fawn would attempt to run, but I cannot say for sure. Also, if the doe were nearby, the fox would likely go away hungry, with its tail between its legs.
