Replacing the knee into position and using a support cast or splint to allow the ligaments to heal is the conservative treatment approach. If the knee doesn't stay stable after the cast is removed, the next option is to try surgical correction via placement of surgical line as a surrogate for the ligaments. This can be expensive, but the success rate is pretty high.
