They can probably still be registered as a half breed provided the other parent was registered. IE- If a purebred registered Arabian stallion was bred to an unregistered mare the foal can be registered as a half-Arabian no matter what the breed of the mare was or if she was even registered. Unregistered horses can still compete is open horse shows and shows which do not require a breed affiliation.
