This question is asking opinion. If you were asking which was better for barrel racing and gymkhana, I'd say the Paint, for sure. But for events such as endurance riding, the Arabian is at the top.
Arabians?
No. An American Paint Horse is a specific breed. They must be a Quarter Horse with spots that fit certain qualifications. They are usually known as Paints. An Arabian is not a Quarter Horse and cannot be a Paint. An Arabian can be a Pinto however. A Pinto is a color breed - as long as a horse has spots, he can be a pinto. It used to be thought that Arabians didn't have spots, but this is untrue. Arabians carry a gene for a special spotting pattern called Sabino. This gene can be hidden and crop out unexpectedly.Any horse can be a paint/pinto. (That I know of.) And arabians are no exception. Paint is a colour of the coat, nothing more, nothing less. therefore Yes. arabians can be paint.
arabians, the oldest and purets breed of horse ever
Arabians.
Arabians
Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Arabians, Paints and Quarter Horses are all used for flat racing on a track designed for the sport. Steeplechasing, hurdling excetera are primarily done by Thoroughbreds. There are also endurance races where Arabians and Mustangs excel, although horses of any breed can participate.
Arabians are no better nor any worse than any other breed of horse. Each breed has it's own merits and problems.
You can find Arabians successfully competing in EVERY event any other light horse breed does. The excell at long distance rides

There is actually an average for how old a horse is for each breed (because the life span for each breed is different) but I breed Arabians and we had an old mare, she lived to be 34. Sounds ancient, I know!
