It may have a hairball blocking the digestive system or many other things could be wrong. I would take it to the vet. If you can't afford to then get some hairball remedy from a coop or pet store and try that. If it doesn't squirt a hairball out of one end or the other then it needs to go to the vet.

If it quits eating altogether then it's really in trouble. Force feeding a cat isn't very fun and can get very emotional.
