Energetic among all things. Sometimes they can be a bit mean but only without proper training. Which is another thing. Border Collies are one of the hardest dogs to train. You need to read up on all the Dummies books and Idiots Guides they are all very helpful for first time owners. Border Collies also need plenty of room to run. If you dont have a big backyard, don't get a Border Collie. Without room they go insane. Even if you walk him every day he won't have enough excercise. With all the right conditions they are the best dogs you can have. I know that to be very true. I hope this helps and that I did not discourage you from getting a Border Collie.
