Cloud forests are very moist. As a result of the boggy soil and wet climate, there are lots of fungus, ferns and orchids. It gets its name from the low clouds that surround the canopy layer of the forest. (These clouds are also called fog) Even though it is a rainforest, most of the precipitation these forests get are from fog drip, which is when fog condenses on leaves and the water falls to the ground. Cloud forests usually grow on mountainous land, are either tropical or subtropical.
