dogs are great for old people! it all depends on what dog it is and what you want to do with it. If you want a loyal guard dog, i would suggest a collie if you dont mind brushing...if you want a short haired dog, i would suggest a sweet boxer(most of them are as sweet as anything, but like all dogs they can be aggressive if they are treated harshly.) if you want lap dog, i would suggest a jack Russell terrier or a dachshund. if you want a good all around dog, go for a Queensland healer or a short haired collie.
these are all purebred recommendations, but mix breeds are always a good way to go! they have some of the cutest and sweetest dogs at pounds and animal shelters! (warning, once you go in there, you might not be able to leave:) )
