Cheetahs are endangered species. There are very few of them left in the wild. This is called by habitat loss, people killing them, and because it is very hard for the females to produce young (they are very picky). Since cheetahs live in grasslands and savanahs they have black lines that come from the corners of their eyes to the corners of their mouth like those of a football players to let them see better in the sun. The cheetahs young are kept hidden while the mother hunts. She tades them to a new hiding place each time so that hyenas , lions and other predators don't find the cubs. The young Have mane-like fur on their backs which mades them look like a honey badger, a predator that most animals are afraid of. Since females live alone unlike the males they rely completely on hiding places and diguises to protect their cubs. Cheetahs are amazing! They can gain speeds up to 40 miles per hour in just 2 seconds! Their top speed is 60 miles per hour. That's about how fast cars go on the freeway. To catch prey cheetahs grab the prey by the throat and wait until it stops breathing before they let go. they eat fast so that bigger cats lide lions don't eat it first! for more info check out www.cheetahspot.com.
