This is another one of those myths I'm afraid, they say the same for pit bulls etc.

As the dog matures its head looses the rounded dome shape characteristic of a pup, to a more flatter/wider muscular appearance when reaching adulthood. There is a crease in the fur going down the centre of the head, which gives an illusion of the head split.

This is where the myth has originated from.
