If you mean Degu, or Dagu, it's a rodent native to Chile.

They're generally very friendly, they're Diurnal which means they're awake during the day, mostly.

The plus side is they can last a long time, as opposed to some rodents{hamster, mice etc..}, the downside is because of their constantly growing teeth, they need plenty chew toys provided that are specific to their constant chewing needs, it's also wiser to provide a wire based multi-floored caged {not a plastic bottom} with cushioning on the bottom (maybe blankets, or smooth tiles so as to prevent what's called 'Bumble feet', a very painful infection of the paws.

Another painful action for the Degu would be attempts to catch it by the tail, it's very painful for them, they'll recover, but the Bonding between Degu and Companion human might be challenging for awhile, as they bond with the person that takes care of them the most.

Like any other animal, an untrained Degu is prone to biting, but can be trained (with patience and tender care) not to bite, their affections shouldn't be confused with biting either, since they show this by Tender light tickling nibbles, via grooming.

They don't need to be bathed in water, a simple sand bath would work for them to keep them clean and groomed, there are Chinchilla dust products appropriately available for this, alongside the chewing toys.
