It all depends on whether its a pack of wolves or just one lone wolf.

For a pack of wolves, they will pick of the weakest animal of that group they have found. They will cut it off from the herd that its in and surround it. Some wolves will go for the legs, some for the back, and one, normally the Alpha, will go for the throat of the beast, clamp down, and kill it.

For a lone wolf, they will look for a small animal such as a rabbit, or a weak animal such as a dieing deer. Depending on the animal they will either snap the spine/neck or bite the throat. If it can't find living prey it will scavenge for food; either eating *carrion, stealing from another animal, or eating the leftovers of some other animals kill.

*Carrion is dead, rotting flesh of some animal that hasn't been completely decomposed.
