The African elephant is the biggest terrestrial animal.

The biggest land mammal alive today is the African bush elephant, which can weigh up to 6.5 tons and stand 10 to 13 feet tall at the shoulder. The largest land mammal to have ever existed was the Paraceratherium, which was 20 feet tall at the shoulder and may have weighed 15 to 20 tons. It was a long necked, long legged, hornless relative of the rhinoceros.
