The Dangerous Dogs Act was introduced in an attempt to reduce the number of Dog attacks on people. Unfortunately, this Act was a complete failure as the number of dog attacks has actually risen since the law was introduced! The Act labels four breeds of Dog as ''dangerous'' and makes them illegal to own, breed or sell. These are the American Pit Bull Terrier (American Staffordshire Terrier), Dogo Argentino, Fila Brazileiro and Japanese Tosa. The Act has caused the euthanisation of hundreds of healthy, happy and friendly dogs just because of their breed and what they looked like. Hopefully, the law may soon be repealed by the Dog Control Bill which is currently going through Parliament. There are no bad breeds, only bad owners.
