St. Bernard's as well as other large breed dogs do not live very long lives. Most St. Bernard's live 9 -11 years. I have had one last 13 years but another than left after 10. My other is still going strong at 8 years. It can be very hard if you don't understand the tremendous loss you will have every 10 years or so. Think long and hard, they are fabulous, great for kids and very loyal. But they get so big if your not prepared for their size and their activity level they can be hard to handle. Good luck.
