Depends on which MGM lion you are referring to. There have been 5 all in all. The present day one. which I am fairly sure you refer to, was named Leo and he is buried in New Jersey. The one you see roaring at te start of Tom and Jerry and much more is named Volney

One person made a video of the MGM lion doing that once. One person also said that the MGM lion isn't roaring, it was more like "I'm in the mood. Have food and conflict and don't bother me." Noise.
