fox usually live in family groups, including one pair and their youngest litter. They breed from late December to early January. Gestation is about 50 days, and 3-6 pups (or kits) are born in each litter. At birth, the pups have very thin fur, and their eyes and ears are closed. They stay in a burrow for most of the spring. In early summer, they begin hunting with their parents. They can breed when they are one year old. They can live up to 10 years, but most wild swift fox only live 3-4 years.
