Turritopsis nutricula or immortal jellyfish is able to reverse its aging process and become a polyp again when it has reached sexual maturity. It does this through the cell development process of transdifferentiation.
Theoretically, this cycle can repeat indefinitely, rendering it biologically immortal, although in nature, most Turritopsis, like other jelly fish, are likely to die from being eaten in the plankton stage, or diseased, or if it does not revert to the polyp form. Lab tests showed that 100% of specimens reverted to the polyp stage. Also read they are spreading from ocean to ocean and might need to be hunted down in the future.
