Great Danes thrive in moderate weather conditions. They prefer cooler temperatures since their short coats provide little insulation, making them susceptible to overheating in hot weather. Ideally, they enjoy mild conditions, where they can comfortably engage in outdoor activities without the risk of heat stress. However, they should also be protected from extreme cold, as they can be sensitive to harsh winter conditions.
Great Danes have very thin coats, so they do not like cold weather. If it's comfortable for a person, it's comfortable for a Great Dane. In cold weather they really do need a coat to help them keep warm, just like a person.
