There are 3. Toy poodles, Miniature poodles and Standard Poodles (size order- small to large). Some people call incredibly small poodles teacup poodles, but they are not recognised as a size, neither are giant poodles. Giant poodles/Royal Standard Poodle is what they call poodles if they are are over 27" at the shoulder.They are not recognised as an official size. There are only 3 sizes that are recognised.

Most people think that they are only three types of poodles them people are wrong, because actually they are six different types: teacup, toy, miniature, klein, standard, and giant. The toy, miniature, and standard are very well know because they are pedigree's and kennel club registered and the other three aren't. The teacup, Klein and the giant poodles are extremely rare.

There are three sizes of poodles today that is recognized by the AKC. The sizes are; Toy, miniature, and standard. The toy breed is 10 inches and under, which includes teacup size but is still in the Toy size category. Then the miniature size is 10 to 15 inches, measured from the floor to the top of their back (shoulder) The standard size poodle can get very large 15 1/2 inches to 27 inches tall. All sizes make very nice pets.
