The okapi is a member of the giraffe family with distinctive stripes on its legs. Its head resembles that of a giraffe, but it does not have the giraffe's long neck.

A baby giraffe looks like a smaller version of an adult giraffe. If in the first few minutes of the birth, the baby giraffe will be rather wobbly as it tries to stand. It is important that the baby is soon able to walk and run along side their parents, as there are many predators in the wild.

The giraffe is NOT an invertebrate. It has 7 vertebrae--bones--in its neck, just like humans...except a giraffe's neck bones are about 10 inches long each. That's almost six feet of neck!
