What should I do if there is a skunk odor in my house?

Well the first thing to do is dont panic! The second thing you do is fill your bath tub with tomato juice and sit in the tomato juice for about a hour or so for the smell to go away.

First and foremost:Skinks are carriers of rabies, and the disease can be passed through their spray. So, in the event you are sprayed by a skunk, your best option is to catch the little guy and bring him with you to the hospital. I should have someone call the ER and warn them you are coming and that you are being accompanied so they can arrange to have animal control there to meet you. You need not sorry about getting sprayed a second time; it takes a while for skunks to recharge. The ER can determine when you arrive whether or not to begin anti-rabies treatment. If you do not have the animal with you, you may receive the treatment regardless. Cleaning options for skunk spray:

• bathe yourself in Tomato Juice for around 2 hours (only partially effective).
• wash yourself down with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol (again, only partially effective).
• Bathe in Massengill brand douche - it sounds strange, but this is very effective, and only the Massengill brand will work.
