As of a report released by IUCN Red List in November 2007, the Giant Panda was first on the list, and still the bear listed at the "very high risk of extinction in the wild". The report also found that six of the eight bear species are also now listed on the Red List, and are in a threatened state. The Sun Bear was listed second in that report, and for the first time status confirmed, since in the past there wasn't enough data to make a decision on it's status.
