Few sitcoms took place in the classroom! There were occasional side glances as references to homework assignments, tutoring, etc- but little classroom activity. I cannot recall ANY in Leave It To Beaver. It was supposed to take place in the suburban area around Chicago. Costumes were heavier than NY types or California casuals. I looked at it fairly steadily and cannot recall any academic based plots on Beaver- in (Sons) yes, but usually off screen, such as pen pal contests that turned out real- science fairs, etc. There were No Black characters as regulars in of all things Andy Griffith, which was supposed to be taking place in North Carolina, where Blacks were hardly rare!
