Go to your vets and either get the flea collar Ovi or, get the Program Kit. In 'Program' they are little capsules and you snip off the end. Push the hair back between the cats shoulder blades and squeeze onto the skin DO NOT RUB IN!!! This will get rid of the fleas.

Other tips:

  • Put an extra Ovi collar in the bag of your vacuum cleaner.
  • Vacuum every day for two weeks and then continue on every two days. Get into corners, under couch cushions, etc. Fleas love the corners of rooms or under cushions of sofas. Of course they will be in carpets as well.
  • If you find you are really infested with fleas have your cat stay at the vets for 24 hours and get a Environmentally safe Exterminator to come in. This means you will have to leave the house for a few hours. I've only had to do this once. From then on I vacuumed every second day.

People can also bring in fleas. Just mowing the lawn the fleas can land on a person's clothing or shoes and be brought into the house.

I have tried a lot of different things to get rid of the fleas my cats had. The best I found without going to a vet is Aadams brand spray for your pet. it comes in a blue bottle and is a little pricey, but the fleas literally fell off of my cats once they got sprayed with it. Definitely worth the extra money spent on it. I found this at my local Petsmart store. Also, for the house I found that Raid Flea killer works great. It comes in a purple aerosol spray can and I found it in the chemical department (with outdoor bug repellant stuff) at my local Wal-Mart.

You may think about beginning your own flea circus - - - Just kidding, the better one is above.

I would wash my cat or have it professionally groomed to remove all of the "flea dirt", feces/dried blood and all of the live fleas. Then, I would apply a flea treatment to the cat. Don't use the cheap ones, they can kill your cat. I used a foam flea shampoo from Hartz and it almost killed my cat. I thought it would be less stressful than a bath. I ended up having to give the cat a bath at 10:00 at night while it was foaming at the mouth. Go with the flea treatment recommended by the vet or groomer.

Why are kittens bron with fleas?

They are not; fleas cannot survive inside the uterus of a cat. However, because the kittens are so close to the mother cat, actually being physically in contact with her, once the mother cat has dried them off her fleas, if any, will immediately start attacking her kittens.

What age to give kittens a flea bath I have 2 Kittens that i removed from a terrible situation and they are covered in fleas?

That depends how old they are, and you have 2 give the kittens different baths depending how old they are. If they are newborns, like a few days old, then give them a bath in a sink.If they are a few weeks old, then give them a bath in a bathtub or a medium sized container/bucket. You might have to pick out a few of the fleas

Yes it is passed through the saliva from one cat to another or fleas that have the feline aids. Have the kittens tested but I am not sure at what age you would get an accurate test. Take them all in to be checked out by your Veterinarian.

Is there a homemade flea shampoo for kittens?

Yes the only thing really safe to shampoo kittens under 8 weeks is Regular Dawn Dish washing liquid. It kill fleas dead! Make sure you rinse the kitten well and use a small toothed flea comb to get the dead fleas off. Do not use any flea spray or products on kittens or their bedding areas or any areas they stay if they are under 12 weeks. It can cause them serious harm or even death. Frontline spot flea control is safe for kittens over 8 weeks and it works really well. It really expensive but 1 vial of it will treat multiple kittens I really recommend you call a vet also and ask questions about fleas. They will be glad to answer any questions you have. Good Luck

Is it normal for my cats' first litter of 4 to all die within a week?

No, it is not normal at all. There are several reasons why this may have happened, from fleas (fleas can actually kill tiny kittens), to health issues with either the mother or the kittens, or the mother just couldn't cope in looking after them well. It is ideal to spay your cat as soon as you can so this doesn't happen again.

Do kittens have worms when they are born?

Kittens can be born with worms if the mother is infected during pregnancy. It is not uncommon for kittens to contract worms from the mother's milk or environment shortly after birth. Regular deworming and preventive measures are recommended for kittens.

How do you rid fleas on newborn kittens?

It depends on how old the kittens are. But, whatever you do, DO NOT BATHE YOUR PUSSYS! They can lose their body heat very easily and die. The only way to get rid of fleas on newborn kittens is to give the mother something that kills fleas, since it is highly probable that they got them fom Mama cat, and hope that the babies get enough through her milk.
