What to do if your dog eats rocks?

You should take your dog to a veterinarian immediately - glass will not be digested and can cause lacerations of the stomach and intestines, which can be fatal. Your dog will probably need abdominal surgery to remove all the glass.

Actually my dog like eating such stuff-Golf balls, socks, plastic, rocks etc. but the first time he ate a rock he became ill so we took him to the vet and BOOM £30 for the visit and some vitamins, £200 for the x ray and god knows what for surgery. We bought the vitamins, gave him water and oil ( to help it pass) through a syringe and after around a week POP it came out the front.... for only the cost of the oil and the syringe. The only thing is this might vary it CAN be fatal for some dogs. I think my dog is the exception not the rule.

You should contact your veterinarian immediately, or as soon as possible. Depending on the form and quantity of the ingested glass, the dog could experience severe or even fatal internal bleeding. Rounded glass beads might pose little risk, whereas a broken light bulb or similar sharp pieces might require surgical intervention.
