My rhodesian ridgeback puppy is great with the family and always wants to be close to us. He is initially shy around strangers, but warms up to them quickly. I have been around some very wary and aloof ridgebacks but their owners all say that at home they are just so sweet. So, in general they are a dog that loves those he knows are his pack, and is not really friendly like a labrador retreiver around strangers, but will not hurt anyone unless they or their family are threatened.
