Tsumanis won't affect whales as they travel through the ocean because it would just be another wave out at sea. If the whales were close to shore they could be swept inland, though.

You would fly in a plane. In some places along the Pacific Coast, you can see the whales from high spots on shore. In other places you can take a short boat ride out on a tour boat and see the whales up close. This is the best way to get good pictures. In a few places (the San Juan Islands, for example) a skilled kayaker can paddle near whales and killer whales.
