When can puppy's eat food?

Puppies should be with their mommies until 8 weeks, but sometimes that is not opossible. I have feed puppies, softed puppy food, as early as 3-4 weeks.

Once I had to feed from day 2, when this is done you still need to rub their tummies and bottoms to help them go to the bathroom.

My last puppy had to be feed from week 2, because her mother had been bitted by bull ants witch destroyed her milk. She started soft food at 3 weeks. About 5 weeks she started to try eatting hard food.

Generally puppies should begin being weened from the mother at about 7 weeks, and should be allowed to try their teeth on solid puppy food. The transition from puppy food to adult food is fairly breed specific. Smaller breeds mature faster, and can be taken off puppy food at around 9 months, larger breeds should continue eating puppy food until they are at least a year. If the cost of puppy food becomes an issue it's also beneficial to supplement the adult dog food with something like low fat ground turkey patties, or boiled chicken bits. That gives them the extra nutrients of the puppy food, without the high prices. I don't recommend giving your pup table scraps, because we humans put a lot of spices, fat, and grease into our foods that dog bodies aren't as capable of handling. Also, dogs are "allergic" to chocolate, onions, and grapes.

The puppy should start eating dog food at 7-8 weeks or earlier.

Feed it soft dog food or normal dog food with water poured in to moisten it.
