Footwear for the eventing rider are dress or field boots. The paddock combination half-chap should be reserved for hacking and training, not competing. For the horse, boots are permitted for the cross-country and stadium jumping, excluding the first day dressage test, especially at the higher levels. Boots for the 2 and 3 days include splint, bell, polo wraps, and of course shipping boots to and from the event.
