Your left foot goes first. Also, always mount on the left side on the horse.
with your left foot, you can try it on the right side, but that is not as easy

Well I always use the mounting block when I get on but my horse is 14HH if I don't have a mounting block I just put my foot in he stirrup and hoist myself up!! This is by far the best way to do it for me
Climbing aboard a horse is called mounting a horse, or to mount a horse. A horse is also sometimes called a person's mount. She fell when she tried to mount the mare. The boy had no trouble mounting the mare, but could not control her with the reins.
When mounting a horse you put your left foot in the left stirrup and swing your right leg over the cantle and the horse's rump.
A stirrup is a ring or frame hanging from a horse saddle by a leather strap. This is where the rider puts his foot to get on the horse and while riding the horse. There is one of each side of the horse.
A stirrup is not a part of a horse, but rather a part of a saddle that a horse wears. Stirrup leathers are leather strips with holes punched every inch, in which a buckle fits. The stirrup leathers hold the stirrups (on a western saddle) or irons (on an English saddle) which is what the rider places his foot in. The ball of the foot is balanced into the stirrup.
The stirrup bar is used to hang the stirrup leather on the saddle. The bar has the ability to close which is very dangerous if you fall and catch your foot in the stirrup, so always make sure that it's open before mounting up.
well i do it because i feel comfortable to put in my right foot in first into the stirrup.
The two types of mounts are English mount and Western mount. English mount involves placing the left foot in the stirrup first and swinging over the horse from the left side. Western mount involves placing the left foot in the stirrup first, but instead of swinging over, the rider lifts themselves up onto the horse's back.
It means that, when it comes time to mount, riders will place their left foot in the left stirrup of the saddle and swing their right leg over the horse to place it in the right stirrup.
Well actually a stirrup is on the saddle and it is the metal part that is shaped like an arch. It hangs from the stirrup leathers, and is the part of the saddle where the rider puts the ball of their foot into to help stabalize and keep them in the saddle.
