There are six species of porpoises, and porpoises are found in all of the earth's sea-water oceans, mainly near land masses. There are also freshwater populations of the Finless Purpoise. The Harbour Porpoise can often be seen in harbours and ports in the Northern Hemisphere.

Of course, some porpoises live in captivity, in zoos, aquariums and oceanaria.
