The lion, while also participating in the hunt, is driven by instinct and the need to secure food, which may not evoke the same level of fear as the gazelle's instinctual response to danger. However, a lion can feel stress or anxiety related to competition or scarcity of food, but this is generally less intense than the fear felt by the gazelle. Ultimately, the gazelle's fear is a direct response to the life-threatening situation it faces.
