The favorite toys of cats vary from cat to cat. Most cats like string and catnip toys. Some basics for choosing a good toy are:
1. Should be small enough to be carried/caught in a cat's mouth or paws
2. Should make noise when put in household conditions
3. Should be light enough that it can be batted around by a cat
4. Should easily move, through rolling, a motor, easy sliding, and/or dangling
Note that not all good toys will include all of the above qualities, and not all need be bought from a pet store. My cat in particular likes gluestick caps, shower poofs, tissues, and thick, loose string.
Rubber balls make good cat toys. Most cats love to chase them around.

All cats love feathers. All cats love birds. All birds have feathers. All cats love feathers. Thus we humans have invented feathered cat toys to ensure that the species of birds does not get extinct.Feather toys are a great way to entertain your cat and protect birds from being eaten alive at the same time. All humans are different, so are cats. This is why there has developed a great variety of great feathered cat toys much to the enjoyment of our little tigers.
Distract it with toys, keep it out of the room, a laser pointer especially works. Most cats love laser pointers.
This entirely depends on the cat. Some cats love chasing things, some cats prefer hanging toys, and a few would most like to chase laser pointers all day.
They will play with most small toys, their prey, or at times with other cats and dogs.
Feed them, cuddle with them, give them kitty toys, empty their litter box, and generally love and care for them.
As far as I know, cats can not fire lasers. But they love laser pointer toys.

There are various reasons that cats like toys with bells in them, including that they like the noise. Most toys that have bells inside are made so the cat can bat them around and they like being able to move as they play. Not all cats like this type of toy.
