Skunks have a few natural predators, including coyotes, foxes, hawks, and owls. While their strong odor serves as a primary defense mechanism against many potential threats, these predators may still attempt to catch skunks, especially when food is scarce. Young skunks are particularly vulnerable to predation.
Skunks do not have a main predator, really just anything that threatens or frightens it.
If skunks were moved to Boston for this reason, it was a bad move. Where there's rats, there's snakes, and between the two, skunks will usually hunt snakes. Without the natural predator of snakes, rats will populate even further.
