Who would win a fight between a hippo and a crocodile?

I personally think it depends on the size and age of both. ----- A hippo would win because it could put a foot ontop of the crocodile's mouth and then the crocodile wouldn't be able to move its mouth.

The hippo is larger and has a jaw size advantage with a bad aggression compared with a saltwater crocodile. Hippos have tough skin to protect themselves from teeth and claws, which would make the crocodile not injure it with its jaws. One bite of a hippo is enough to kill a saltwater crocodile.

It would seem that, due to the croc's reputation, it would win a fight, hands down... but not neccessarily so! The hippo is a very aggressive, temperamental animal! Both animals have massive jaw strength and the edge would actually go to whichever one was the aggressor. The element of surpise would be the key to winning this fight!

Most likely the rhino. Rhinos have thick armor-like skin and a heavy weight that would make the crocodile difficult to bite it down with its jaw. The saltwater crocodile could bite the rhino, but this would do nothing and make the rhino want to stomp at it to death.

Unless it is a baby hippo, the size advantage goes to the hippopotamus. It would take a very large crocodile to challenge an adult hippopotamus, and the two species are normally co-existent.
