Why are cougars endagered species?

because of uncontrolled hunting and trapping, habitat loss and destruction, and decline in their main food supply - the white-tailed deer.

Only the Florida race is in trouble. As a species, they are holding on well. The white tailed deer is still a very common animal, as well.

The cougar, or puma, or mountain loin, is endandered because people used to think it killed things for fun, so they started killing the pumas! it wasn't until years later that they realized it was just killing to eat and to live.

The only race of puma now endangered is the Florida panther. The cougar, or puma, is not endangered as an entire species. There are only reported to be about 50 Florida cougars left so they are endangered.
