Why are giraffes tall?

They need their long necks and legs to get their food. They eat leaves off of (tall) trees. Giraffes evolved from shorter animals, because the ability to eat leaves that most animals could not reach gave them a survival advantage.

Because of evolution. Their necks are so long because over a period of time, their necks grew longer in order for them to reach for leaves in tall trees. Im guessing the rest of their bodies changed to support their long necks.
