Why can't turtles jump?

I will be quite honest with you by saying until you asked the question ... I had never heard of any such creature.

When I searched the web I found a few really funny pictures of a frog/turtle like thing which states that it burrows under ground and lays it's eggs there.

All I can say is it looks really fake and doesn't appear like it can do much of anything. By it's design it looks like easy prey for anthing that moves on the planet.

Frogs actually don't walk -- they jump. I think the person is asking why they can only jump, not walk. That is because of the shape of their back legs and the design of the "knee" joint. Frog legs, kangaroo legs, cat legs, rabbit legs -- they all have similar back legs for jumping which work almost like a spring. Great for jumping, but not for walking. Cats have four legs, so they can walk as well as jump (which makes them great at climbing trees, but not so great at getting back down). Somebody who knows more about Biology can probably explain this better.

Turtles can swim because they are naturally buoyant which means they displace less water than their combine surface area and density, plus their webbed feet help them push themselves through the water and they also have special lungs that allow them to hold their breath for extended periods of time.

Turtles have a sell that is many times heavier than their body weight. Imagine carrying a 250 or 300 pound sandbag; jumping while holding it is physically impossible for most of the world.
