There are two periods of time where bears are ravenously hungry, when they come out of hibernation, and just before they enter hibernation. During these times they are looking to fill up on as much food as possible as fast as possible, and our garbage smells really good to them.
The problem is, that once they realize how easy it is to get a meal from our cast off food, they will return again and again until it no longer is a viable source.
Bears, in general, have been known to go through the trash in search of food to eat.
yes they do eat trash when they don't have nothing to eat
There are a few examples of possible symbiotic relationships for black bears. It could be said that they have one with humans, as they commonly eat trash which is left out by humans. By the same token, they eat honey which is made by bees which could be said to establish a symbiotic relationship between the bears and bees.
Bears can be peaceful animals, however this isn't possible. Bear habitats and human areas are beginning to overlap, causing much trouble. Bears can be very aggressive, I believe they come into people's yards to eat trash or something that smells edible.
