If you've lost your cat, post its picture around the neighborhood. Have your parent ask neighbors to look around their bushes and under porches. Kitties who are scared will hide during the day, plus cats sleep most of the day. Try looking in the evening or just after dark. Speak softly, calling your cat's name. Yelling might scare the cat.
