i had this same problem with my cat pheobe a few years ago, but it didnt really change her attitude in any way, to be honest, i think my cat got it just from fighting, something stupid like that, but it could be to do with what type of area they live in. i am no expert, so dont go off my advice completely, i would check with someone else to be sure
