It is not necessarily bad, but it's not good in large quantities either. A few pieces occasionally won't hurt the dog, but it can give dogs excessive amounts in carbs. (Which can be dangerous to dogs prone to gaining weight or ones that do not frequently exercise)

Yes and no. The majority of veterinarians recommend limiting the amount of bread, since it is like junk food and does not provide nutrition for the dog. One commenter answered this question this way: "Years ago, before I kept hearing that a little piece of bread should only be given to a dog rarely, as a treat, my dog then used to always get a little bit of bread that one of the 4 of us kids were eating. he loved it. and he lived to the ripe old age of 17, so i guess it didn't do him much harm." While that may be true for individual dogs, again, most veterinarians would say to give a dog bread very sparingly. It won't kill the dog, but it's not good for him or her either.
