Why does a dalmatian dog have spots?

Well it is hard to say. Some dogs have spots from their ancestors. See their ancestors use their spots for camouflage to hunt for food or hide from other animals. This day dogs have spots as a birth mark in away. Some spots are good looking and others should not have them. The dogs this day use their spots the same as their ancestors did back then. In the 1400's the breed colour was desired because of the beauty and because thieves could see their stark colourings as they ran along side carriages to deter any attacks.

They don't get them all at once, they come gradually, and start when they are 2-4 weeks old.
