There are two main reasons why cats may drool.
First is because when some cats get so content, like when they are on your lap and you are petting them, their muscles relax causing their mouth to open. This then causes saliva to slip out.
Second there are various medical issues, such as ulcers that have the tendency to cause that sensation therefore you should consult your vet to ensure there are no medical issues that are at hand.
Drooling is a very difficult habit to correct therefore unless it is a medical issue then keep a wash cloth nearby and enjoy.
