engine is stalling because revs aren't high enough for the load, try lowering the deck on short grass
To freewheel a Husqvarna zero-turn mower, first ensure the engine is off and the parking brake is engaged. Locate the bypass valves, typically found near the wheel motors, and switch them to the "freewheel" position. This allows the mower to be pushed manually. After moving the mower, remember to return the bypass valves to the "drive" position before starting the engine again.
Turn your blades off.
To start a Cub Cadet riding lawn mower, first ensure that the mower is in neutral and the parking brake is engaged. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Press the brake pedal and pull the choke lever if necessary, then turn the key to start the engine. Once the engine starts, adjust the choke as needed and you're ready to mow.
when I try to engage gears of mower blades, the engine dies under the load. Read wheels also lock when fowrad and rear gears are engaged.
There is usually a clutch which disconnects the motor from the wheels. That will make it ok
My Huskee mower will not mow in reverse due to a switch that kills the engine if the blades are engaged. This is very inconvenient. I removed the switch and it now mows in reverse. Do this at your own risk. I am the only person who uses my mower and it will be reinstituted when I sell the mower.
The reason the mower dies when the blades are engaged can be caused by a couple of different things. One, the spindles for the blades are frozen so the blades can't turn stopping the engine. Two, the fuel system isn't allowing sufficient fuel/air flow when the engine is put under a load.
Typically this is caused by a bad seat safety switch.
HOW TO CHANGE THE CUTTING HEIGHT To change the cutting height, raise or lower the lift lever as follows. 1. Move the lift lever forward to lower the mower housing and back to raise the mower housing. 2. When you ride on a sidewalk or road, move the lift lever to the highest position and move the blade rotation control to the DISENGAGE position.
It's a safety feature of the mower. Usually this only happens when the blades are engaged.
Your clutch has to be engaged when you start your mower or at least my craftsman mower does. If it dies when you release the clutch pedal, it is due to the engine shutoff relay which is wired to the electric clutch. There are 2 wires on the lower left side of the mower that run along the inside of the frame to the clutch. These wires run just above the mower deck belts and connect to the top of clutch. They are so close that sometimes they get entangled with the deck belts causing them to be torn loose or rub the insulation off and expose the bare wire (which will cause it to ground out if it comes in contact with metal). You need to find and inspect these two wires all the way from the clutch to the point they come up through a hole in the frame floor that the engine is bolted to.
Possibly a bad switch under the seat. This is a safety feature that kills the motor if you overturn the mower. Unless the seat switch is made, the motor will not run with the blades engaged. There is also a switch on the blade engagement mechanism so the mower "knows" when they are engaged.
