There are two types of elephants that live in the African savannah. There's the African elephant, or Savannah elephant (as it is sometimes called), and then there's a subspecies called the Forest elephant. The Savannah elephant is larger than the Forest elephant and has tusks that curve outwards whereas the tusks of the Forest elephant are much straighter and point slightly downwards.
