Humans erronneously believe that orangutans are the perfect pet. they are humanlike and intelligent, but orangutans are NOT good pets! Orangutans are an endangered species, and to get a baby orangutan for the pet trade, their mother is shot, and due to poor handling most infants die en route. Even if they are born in captivity, they are taken from their mothers at birth, and this has the exact same effect it would on a human mother and child.
Orangutans are extremely strong, way stronger than any human. No matter how loving a relationship they have with their owner there is always the possibility they will attack.
As infants, they are relatively easy to care for and can be raised as a human child. When they reach adolescence however, they start to become unmanageable, to the point where they have to be confined to a cage. Not even trainers in Hollywood can handle them at this point. After a lifetime of abuse, the orangutans are either put in abreeding situation or confined to a cage. Even a relatively well equipped cage is not ideal for an orangutan. They are simply too intelligent. It is like confining a human child to a cage their whole life.
Zoos usually cannot take pet orangutans, as they learn how to be an orangutan from their mother, and have no idea how to interact with other orangutans. Many are so humanized they view themselves as humans. Zoos are usually full anyway, and the same goes for sanctuaries.
IF you love orangutans, work to protect them in the wild, visit them in the zoo, or fundraise for the Center for Great Apes, but NEVER keep one as a pet.
Female orangutans are killed by humans when they are trying to take the babies away from the orangutan. The female will do everything in her power to try and protect her young.

California coyotes can be dangerous to small pets, but they typically avoid humans. It is important to take precautions to protect pets from potential encounters with coyotes.

Yes, packs of coyotes can be dangerous to humans and pets. Coyotes are known to attack small pets and can pose a threat to humans, especially if they feel threatened or are in search of food. It is important to take precautions when living in areas where coyotes are present, such as keeping pets indoors and not approaching or feeding wild coyotes.
People keep hamsters as pets because it is an easy-first-pet animal to take care of and can be trained and held.
No a baby cannot because it does not have the mentality to really think of what it needs, if its sick, how to play with it, not to let it out of its cage etc.

yes, some people do- in places like Borneo people keep them as pets because they think they are cute when they are babies so they catch them or buy them from a market. But when they get older they kill them or set them free( where they will die because they have no skill to get their food) and they will die. Yes, and not just in Borneo and Sumatra. They are kept all over the world. Orangutans are NOT good pets!
