Tigers are endangered because, before they were protected, many people killed them and sold their skins as rugs, coats, curtains and many more things.

Answer

There are many other reasons why tigers are endangered. Another is that the Chinese believe that the tiger has medicinal properties. They kill the tigers, then grind their bones into a powder to increase bone density and strength. (it's all taboo, I don't know why they still believe this old myth) They also use...ehm...other body parts to increase fertility. It's really gross, but some of the Chinese are very stubborn and won't change their beliefs. People also kill tigers because they think they are a threat to the people and the livestock. When the people of a certain area need to expand into new areas, they turn once wild lands into villages and small towns. They either chase the prey of the tigers away or they hunt they prey as food until they are all gone. When this happens, the tigers run out of food and need to find a new food source. The only food left for them to eat is the domestic livestock owned by the people. Of course, this is located in the village, and the people take it personally and kill them.
