Fur and hair are the same things. The term fur refers to the body hair of non-human mammals, also known as the pelage.
West Highland White Terriers shed very minimally,or seemingly not at all. If yours is shedding "a lot" then either: a.) it is not a purered Westie or b.) your Westie has a skin allergy and is losing hair rather than "shedding". (Allergies are common in these dogs...many times it's their food they are reacting to, but see a vet to be certain.)
This is absoutely normal!!! Mine does too!!! That is just how their breed is. They are very lazy.
